I feel partially aware of so many things that are currently in the media; Taylor Swift dating a sportsperson, various social and political things that are happening in Australia, and the constant mixed messages all media shares, like this article, Why we’re embracing ‘party girl’ beauty and rejecting wellness culture.
I’m halfway through season 4 of Sex Education and have been halfway through for almost a week, if that’s indication of anything. I am desperate to watch the Only Murders Season Finale and I don’t have a shared show on the go[1]. Meaning my boyfriend and I are rewatching episodes of CSI. I’m not complaining. I went to Tokyo and read Inspector Imanishi Investigates by Seicho Matsumoto and discovered Japanese author, Seishi Yokomizo. I don’t have the words to adequately explain this genre., except that it’s a mystery. I’ve read The Village of Eight Graves and am currently reading Death on Gokumon Island. After realising I read lots of Italian-translated novels, I thought I should try some Greek ones (that’s where my family is from). I read The Messenger of Athens by Anne Zouroudi (not realising it was written in English). It was good, but I’m not besotted by the detective. I also ready Steph Vizard’s debut novel, The Love Contract. Which was great. I read it before and after seeing a screening of The Chungking Express which was beautiful and so cool and had me listening to Dreams by The Cranberries and California Dreamin’ on repeat for the twenty-four hours afterwards, but not since. I’ve listened to GUTS by Olivia Rodrigo incessantly. The news of Usher headlining the Superbowl Half Time Show has completely thrilled me no end. The piece of news that I am still waiting to see the impact of, is Rupert Murdoch stepping down, to the side, hanging things over, under handing things. I’m not sure.
I’d comment on how fast the months are going, but that doesn’t really bring anything new to the conversation. I’ve got to go have some lunch. This is being published just after it’s written. So kinda like it’s live?
[1] A concept we should probably explore more.
