I tried to watch Adults and didn’t feel like it was for me. The opening scene on the train? Perhaps it was meant to be funny and shocking but I was just not into it. So I fast forwarded to another scene and didn’t really enjoy that either. My sister recommended it and so I felt I had to confess.
Every week I am reading a couple of Agatha Christie Poirot books. I am in a ‘good’ routine of reading before bed, and if I’m being ‘extra good’ I’ll pick up my book instead of a phone.
Shetland is a very comforting show. A murder mystery set on an isle, it’s one of those why do so many murders take place in such a concentrated area? shows. Season 9 is the second with new detective, DI Ruth Calder (played by Ashley Jensen) in the lead. Like a number of great detectives before her, such as Olivia Coleman in Broadchurch, she inexplicably has a cross body bag on her person at all times. A phenomena I’ve tried to write about a number of times but never succeeded. A number of women I work with also do this. I don’t work with detectives though.
Airport on Channel 10 is a show about the behind-the-scenes running of Melbourne Airport. It’s one of those shows that has an ominous narrator (in Susie Youssef) and pieces together multiple anti climactic storylines in a tense way. It is interesting and makes me grateful I’m not at the airport.
Real estate realty show, Listing Melbourne, is one of the worst shows I’ve ever seen. I really don’t enjoy that style of reality TV and tend to avoid it, but we watched it, and then were clearly craving a real estate show because we tried Love It or List It. I found that just as forced and boring. Also, both were so slow, nothing happened?!
Idris Elba on Chicken Shop Date? Say no more. I also loved this one with Loyle Carner. Also in YouTube land, if you’re into fashion B Jones Style is one of the best, she’s so passionate and I find it very soothing to watch her talk through her op- shop, or as she calls them, thrift finds. I also really love Cup of Jordy but don’t always love the theme of her videos. I adore YouTube but I’m finding everyone hypocritical on there at the moment so I’m just giving it a rest.
What have you been consuming?
Also, if you wouldn’t mind answering the poll below that would be really helpful. Thanks!
You are the first person I read who didn't like Adults. So far I'm enjoying it but it's definitely a specific type of humor.
On the crime genre. Have you seen Dept. Q on Netflix? It's probably my fav show that came out in June.
justice for adults
anyway I’ve consumed a lot of the simpsons
