It’s been a while since I’ve done a Parts of The Week, and I could go into all the riveting reasons why, but they’re back so who cares!
I’ve become incredibly passionate about International Women’s Day this year and organised something at work for the students with my colleague (who is also my friend). Whilst I acknowledge the performative nature of such days, I also figure that we have a lot of ways to do and sitting back about it isn’t helpful. Unfortunately, some things feel like blatant performance, such as interior design brand Citta, using this as an opportunity to spruik their female founder and CEO’s favourite products instead of talking to her about being a founder and CEO.
My love for Restoration Australia knows no bounds. On ABC iView, this show features people restoring somewhat important houses around the country. At first, I was drawn to the latest host Anthony Burke who is also on Grand Designs Transformations, but now working my way back I’m besotted by Stuart Harrison, host of seasons 2 and 3. I’ve previously written about these shows being an unexpected balm to my soul and that continues.
I really love Phoebe Lovatt, though I don’t get the impression that she’s into having random people telling her that they love her. Having bought and read both Working Woman’s Handbook and Work Ethics, I am very pleased that she now has a newsletter and became a paying subscriber. Also, my commute to work is now longer and I’ve been listening to episodes of Deep Read, her podcast. I told you, I love her.
Speaking of reading, my reading is SLOW. It’s frustrating. I did manage to finish Suffer the Little Children by Donna Leon which was very good. We all know how I feel about Italian Detective series.
Training Season by Dua Lipa is on repeat. Cannot wait for the album.
As always, would love to hear from you and what you’ve enjoyed this week.
Loved this!
Also that’s so good that you guys did stuff for IWD back at school!
I started the book version of One Day! It’s a lot more funnier than the series (not sure about the movie tho) and I like Emma morley more in the book too.
Watched the movie three billboards out of ebbing Missouri with the queen frances mcdormand. second time round just as good!
I loved the Louis Theroux episode with Amelia Dimoldenberg. It was like listening in on a chat between buddies and the bit at the end where they share advice about anxieties and vulnerabilities is so wholesome! Amelia also talked about her ambition to create a magazine as a platform for young writers, since creative youth facilities in the UK have been decimated in the last few years
